Moveable type

Print Poster series
I absolutely love moveable type. It's the foundation of modern design. This is my major project for university — and I keep it here in my portfolio as a reminder of, and tribute to, the the roots of design.
Using wooden block letters from an old letterpress and ink, alongside the computer, I aimed to showcase the old methods in a modern design. I was able to pay homage to the printing press and show that the methods form the printing press, such as leading and kerning, are still relevant today.
This series shows how much we owe the printing press and typography. The quotes I used are from Marshall McLuhan and they explore the importance of type in our everyday lives.
